How to submit Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB) IDX and VOW Data Access Agreements
If you’ve set out to build a website, or need access to TREB MLS data for any other reason, you’ll have to submit an IDX and VOW data access agreement online.
Fortunately, the whole process takes just a few minutes.
Here’s what you’ll need in advance:
- Your membership #, PIN and authenticator token. These forms require that an active member of TREB logs in using their membership credentials.
- A technology provider. If you don’t have one, contact me (pat@repliers.io)! Once you’ve obtained access, that’s when the real fun begins. We have a solution that will save you or your website developer hundreds of hours — more info can be found here: docs.repliers.io
- Decide on what website URLs you’ll be using. TREB needs to know where you’ll be publishing the data so that they can audit it for compliance. You must provide at least one website URL and may provide up to three website URLs. Note: you may change these at a later date.
- Give your technology provider and broker of record a heads up. Before your agreements are processed by TREB, they have to be approved by both your technology provider and your broker of record. If your technology provider and broker of record are anticipating the approvals, things tend to move along much faster. If everyone is on their toes you could have access in as little as 24 hours.
Step 1
Go to https://oas.trreb.ca/oas/common/login.jsp and login with your TREB credentials.
Step 2
Once logged in, click on the “Start New” tab.
Step 3
Click on the third option, “IDX Data Agreement” and click “Continue”.
Step 4
Specify your technology provider’s information (Third Party). For convenience, the example below uses the information you’d use if you wanted to use my company (Repliers) as your technology provider.
Step 5
Enter your website URLs. Again, these are the websites that you intend to publish the data on. (e.g., www.bobtherealtor.com).
Step 6
Click “Send to third party” on the bottom right of the page. It’s important to note that there are several check boxes that you must click throughout this agreement that represent your acknowledgement of the terms of the agreement. Look for the red text.
Step 7
Click on the “Start New” tab again, this time to complete your VOW data access agreement.
Step 8
Click on the fourth option, “VOW Data Agreement” and click “Continue”.
Step 9
Specify your technology provider’s information (AVP). For convenience, the example below uses the information you’d use if you wanted to use my company (Repliers) as your technology provider.
Step 10
Enter your website URLs. Again, these are websites you intend to publish the data on. (e.g., www.johntherealtor.com).
Important to note that VOW websites differ slightly from IDX websites in terms of how you display the data. Feel free to reach out to me (pat@repliers.io) if you need more information about this.
Step 11
Click “Send to AVP” on the bottom right of the page. It’s important to note that there are several check boxes that you must click throughout this agreement that represent your acknowledgement of the terms of the agreement. Look for the red text.
Done! What happens next?
- You technology provider will receive two emails asking them to authorize your agreements (one per agreement).
- Once your technology provider authorizes the agreements,
- Your broker of record will receive two emails asking them to authorize your agreements (one per agreement).
- Once your broker of record authorizes the emails,
- TREB will be notified that both parties have authorized the data agreements.
- Once TREB authorizes the agreements,
- Your technology provider will be notified that access to the data has been granted.
